With an estimated two out of three Americans living as overweight or obese, it’s time we give children better tools to manage their lifestyles.
Healthy Heard is an initiative of the Heard Elementary PTA to create and support opportunities for physical activity and efforts that make it easier for students to make healthy choices.
Proposed activities include
- Annual survey of parents’ and teachers’ health concerns
- Step-counting competition for students, staff and families
- Website that lists and celebrates Heard health initiatives
- Tip Sheets on healthy snacks, celebrations & weeknight family meals
- Walk/Bike to School event
- Recognizing Every Kid Healthy Week, (4th week of April or thereabouts)
- Fundraising for physical activity and/or nutrition education efforts
